This is an antique Elgin American Sterling silver double photo locket, sometimes called a Sweetheart locket. It was hung from a long chain or watch chain, and was a popular gift to soldiers in WWI. The hairstyles in the photo are circa. 1915-1920. The engine turned pattern outside the case is typical of Edwardian silver work. This measures 2 x 1 1/2 x 1.4”.
